Brightwood Boy Missing Since Tuesday Afternoon

UPDATE: Malic Martinez, 12, was reportedly found Wednesday afternoon.

BRIGHTWOOD, OR — A 12-year-old boy from Brightwood hasn't been seen since around 4 p.m. Tuesday, and now the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding him.

UPDATE: Malic was reportedly found Wednesday afternoon, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

Malic Martinez was last seen leaving his residence in the 58000-block of Highway 26 near Brightwood on May 23, sheriff's officials said, noting that he was headed south into the woods behind his home.

Brightwood is about 13 miles east of Sandy, in the Mt. Hood corridor.

When he left, Malic was wearing a gray t-shirt, black or gray gym shorts, black Nike track shoes, and an unknown color backpack, sheriff's officials said.

Malic has not received wilderness survival training and was not equipped to spend a night outside in the woods, sheriff's officials said, adding that his parents think he may have been trying to go to Sandy.

Sheriff's officials ask for anyone who sees Malic to call 911.
