Gresham Looking for Good Listeners to be Mediators

The city is looking for people to take mediation training.

Are you a good listener? Patient? Looking to help others work through problems? If so, Gresham has an opportunity for you.

The city is offering a series of mediation training and workshops.

Those who take the course will be qualified to be a volunteer mediator for East Metro Mediation.

"In this training course, you will learn how to help others resolve conflict and gain valuable skills including communication, listening and conflict resolution skills that can be applied in all facets of life, from the workplace to the home and community," the city says.

East Metro Mediation's Basic Mediation Training Course helps people learn the conflict resolution skills necessary to resolve many different problems.

  • Being a mediator is rewarding; knowing how to work through issues and conflict is a great skill to have.
  • The tools learned in this 42-hour course are useful in work groups, businesses, neighborhoods and families.
  • The training includes working with people individually over the phone, and in face-to-face meetings.
  • People of all ages, ethnicity and backgrounds are welcome. People who are bilingual (Spanish or Russian and English) are encouraged to apply.
