Gresham Man Who Killed His Wife Gets 17 Years
Gerardo Gomez Ventura will be eligible for parole after 10 years.
A man from Gresham who killed his wife was sentenced to 17 years in prison though he will be eligible for parole after 10 years. Gerardo Gomez Ventura pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter.
Gresham Police responded in June 2015 to the Southeast 205th Drive home that Ventura shared with his wife, Maria Del Carmen Gomez. She was dead from a gunshot wound.
Ventura originally told police the gun had gone off accidentally but later admitted having shot her.

Prosecutors had alleged that he had abused her more than once.
