Gresham Police Beefing Up Driver Safety Enforcement

With grant funding, department plans crackdown on DUII drivers and targeting those who fail to "click-it."

If you're driving in Gresham, obey the law.

You would think it's a simple thing.

But it's not and the Gresham Police Department is increasing efforts to enforce safety laws.

Using funding from a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Gresham Police Department is going to be providing enhanced patrols looking for people driving under the influence as well as extra efforts to enforce seat belt laws.

The department is also receiving assistance from the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Impact.

Since the beginning of the year, Gresham police officers have made more than 221 arrestes for driving under the influence.
