Gresham Police Arrest Man for Sex Attack on Springwater Corridor

Attack happened on Friday afternoon

Gresham Police have arrested 50-year-old Thomas Peacock in connection with a sexual assault that occurred last Friday on the Springwater Trail.

There was also an outstanding warrant from the Parole Board for Peacock on a homicide charge.

He was found Thursday in the area of Oaks Park in Southeast Portland and taken into custody without incident.

In addition to the outstanding warrant on a homicide charge, he is charged with rape and kidnapping.

The attack happened around 4:30PM Friday along the Springwater Corridor.

The woman has riding her bicycle westbound when she got a flat tire.

She flagged down a man on a dark-colored mountain bike, asking for help.

He pulled a knife on her, threatened to kill her, and forced her to a woody area south of the trail where he sexually assaulted her.

She described him as bald, medium build, and appearing to be in his 40s.

Sh said he was wearing a red jacket, blue jeans, had a dark colored backpack and appeared to be about 6'6" and clean shaven.

The woman made it to a nearby Walmart where she called 911.

Police think there may be other victims of Peacock out there and ask anyone with information about the case to call the Gresham Police tip line at 503-618-2719.
