Gresham Schools: Coming Together to Help Their Garden Grow

It was a team effort to get garden boxes for an elementary school. And everyone was happy to help.

Powell Valley Elementary School in Gresham now has garden boxes so that students can learn about how things grow.

And it took a team effort to make it happen.

And everyone involved thinks it was a good idea.

It started with Sarah Ells at the school.

She thought it would a cool an interesting project for students at the school and approached the city about getting a grant.

Unfortunately, the city's grant money for school projects had already been allocated.

But, Shaunna Shadle with the city had an idea.

Her husband, Kevin, works at Diebold lumber in Troutdale. They agreed to donate the lumber.

Keri Handally, who like Shaunna works for Gresham, helped solicit the donation of other materials.

And now Powell Valley Elementary has raised beds for its students.
