'I Felt Frightened and Trapped,' Girl Says After Allegedly Being Abused By Man On Plane

Chad Camp was arrested getting off a flight from Dallas. An FBI agent's affidavit details a girl's fear and reveals what allegedly happened.

She is 13 years old and flying home to Portland from Texas.

Her trip had started with a flight from San Antonio to Dallas, and now she's on American Airlines flight 2267 from Dallas to Portland.

The stewardess sits her in 21A, by the window.

As she settles in β€” she's alone on this flight, what the airlines call "an unaccompanied minor" β€” a man sits down next to her.

The flight's not full β€” in fact, the aisle seat next to him is empty.

His name is Chad Cameron Camp. He is 26.

The stewardess tells him there are lots of empty seats and he can change if he likes.

"No, I'm fine," he tells her.

The 13-year-old points out the aisle seat is open.

She later tells an FBI agent that at that point she could tell Camp cursed a couple of times and was mumbling, that she couldn't understand what he was saying.

She puts in her headphones.

Where are you coming from, Camp asks her. Where are you going? Is this your first trip to Portland?

I live there, she tells him.

Me, too, he says. Are you coming from San Antonio?

Yes.

Me, too, he tells her.

She could see from his boarding pass that was not true.

Were you born in San Antonio? he asks.

Yes, she says.

Me, too, he again replies.

Camp starts leaning against the teen. The armrest is down, creating a barrier.

But it is not enough.

She leans as much into the window as she can.

Camp pulls a magazine from the pocket in the seat in front of him and starts flipping the pages. Each time he turns a page, he uses his elbow to brush up against her shoulder and upper arm.

Every time he does that, she tries to move away. And he laughs.

He finishes the magazine and leans toward her, attempting to put the magazine in the pocket of the seat in front of her.

Instead, he drops it on her shoes.

He reaches into the seat pocket and takes a plastic sleeve that the teen had put in there. It had her boarding pass and unaccompanied minor paperwork. He starts reading her boarding pass out loud.

He finishes it and tosses it to her feet.

He stands up and moves toward the window, getting so close her to that she feels frightened and unsure what to do.

She pulls her book from the seat pocket in front of her and tries to distract herself from what Camp is doing.

Camp, who had earphones in, takes one and offers it to her. She refuses. He offers again. She refuses. He takes his earphones out and throws them in her lap.

He then reaches over with his left hand, places it on her and knee and slides it up to her upper thigh.

She crosses her right leg over her left and leans as far into the window as she can.

Camp laughs at her.

She can tell something is up. She feels frightened and trapped.

A little while later, he places his left hand on her upper thighs.

"What are you doing?" she asks.

He removes his hand, laughs, and places it back on her thigh.

She physically moves his hand.

He laughs and places it right back.

A flight attendant, pushing the drink cart, walks by at that moment and sees Camp's hand in the area of the teen's crotch. The attendant sees the teen leaning against the wall of the plane, facing the window.

"No, man," the attendant tells Camp. "You need to move."

What? says Camp.

The flight attendant, seeing a single tear on the teen's cheek, orders Camp to move to an open seat in row 30. The teen is escorted to row eight.

As the plane reaches cruising altitude β€” about 20 minutes in β€” the captain is told what happened.

The teen, meanwhile, spends the rest of the flight in her seat. She had to go to the bathroom but did not move, fearing she would see Camp again.

When the plane lands, the teen is met by her stepfather.

Camp is taken off the plane and seated near Gate 22.

The teen, who had not gone to the bathroom, has to go. The nearest bathroom involves a short walk by Gate 22. She goes off on her own, not knowing Camp is there.

She sees him, returns to her stepfather. Crying.

He walks her to the bathroom, providing a shield between her and Camp.

She is then interviewed by an FBI agent and Portland police officer.

Camp, who until that moment, had no criminal record, is arrested by the FBI.

After an initial appearance Thursday where he enters a plea of not guilty to a charge of "abusive sexual contact," Camp will be back in court Monday.
