K9 With Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Getting Body Armor
Thanks to a charity based in Massachusetts.

Ranger, a patrol K9 with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, is getting body armor. It's the result of a donation from Vested Interest in K9s a charity based in East Taunton, Massachusetts.
The sheriff's office says that the vest should arrive in the next eight to ten weeks.
The charity was formed in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies when it comes to protecting their K9 officers. So far, they have provided more than 2,000 vests to law enforcement agencies in all 50 states.

"This vest will provide much needed protection for Ranger while he is on patrol or engaged in higher risk captures or deployments," said Ranger's partner, Deputy Todd Weber.
The sheriff's office says that Ranger is a five-year-old german shepherd from the Netherlands who, in his off duty time, loves to swim and also enjoys ice cream.
The office also has two K9 drug dogs - Gunner, a two-year-old springer spaniel and Spencer, a seven-year-old German Shepherd.
