No One Wins: Police Arrest Drivers of Three Cars Racing on I-84

One car was going 123 miles per hour and another crashed as it tried to escape police.

Gresham, OR -- Three young drivers racing their cars on I-84 early Thursday morning tried to evade police but were apprehended. One car flew off the highway as it tried to escape and crashed.

Multnomah County Sheriff's Department Deputies were alerted to the race around 1 a.m. and pursued the cars, clocking one of them as going at 123 miles per hour.

Deputies lost the racers at first, who dispersed once they realized they were being chased. Putting out descriptions of the vehicles, police were able to identify the cars in the surrounding area.

Angel Eduardo Canseco, 24, was driving a silver Dodge Charger when he was pulled over by a Fairview officer. The officer confirmed the car was indeed one of those racing, and arrested Canseco. Nearby, 24-year-old Oliver Reyes-Zaragoz and a Ford Focus were found, and also arrested for being involved in the race.

Canseco and Reyes-Zaragoz were being taken in when a report came in of a crash at Exit 18 off westbound I-84. This was the third car involved, driven by 22-year-old Carlos Joshua De Jesus. Trying to exit the highway he couldn't handle the turn, sending the Dodge Charger he was driving airborne over the onramp to westbound I-84.
