Man Who Shot Police Officer is Wanted Felon
The Fairview officer was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon.

The man who shot a Fairview Police Officer Wednesday night has been identified as David Allen Charlton, a felon wanted on a federal parole violation stemming from a 1999 bank robbery for which he served 13 years.
Charlton remained in the hospital Friday recovering from a gunshot wound he suffered after shooting Officer Scott Shropshire.
Shropshire was released Thursday afternoon.

Police say that Shropshire and his partner, Gresham Police Officer Michael Broder, were on patrol Wednesday night when Charlton crashed his GMC Envoy and ran from the scene.
Earlier this year, both Broder and Shropshire - who are members of the East Metro Gang Enforcement Team - had been selected as officer of the year by their respective departments.

They chased down Charlton to the 18900 block of Northeast Couch Lane.
Moments later there was a radio call - "shots fired." "Officer hit."
Charlton is charged with attempted murder and may face more charges when a grand jury hears the case.
