📰 News we're reading

• 'Anything but a resignation is a disservice': Leaders say Harrington's exit from chair not enough (hillsboronewstimes.com) — Hillsboro's mayor and entire city council are publicly urging Washington County Chair Kathryn Harrington to fully resign after she flipped off a fellow commissioner during a meeting, saying merely stepping back from leadership isn't enough. They cite long-running concerns about her workplace behavior, while another commissioner, Nafisa Fai, says the decision to resign is Harrington's alone as county leaders debate next steps.

• Portland City Council unanimously votes on data center NDA resolution, considers moratorium (kgw.com) — Portland's City Council just voted to restrict non-disclosure agreements on data center proposals and is openly considering a moratorium, following the example set by Hillsboro's earlier short-term pause on new facilities. With Hillsboro already hosting the most data centers in Oregon, the regional debate now centers on energy use, water, noise, and transparency around future projects.
