Oregon breaks ground on $750 million biotech expansion (wheninyourstate.com) — Genentech has broken ground on a $750 million expansion of its Hillsboro manufacturing site, a multiyear project expected to create about 200 construction jobs and 250 long‑term high‑wage positions. The new facility will add flexible fill‑finish capabilities for medicines in oncology, neurology, and immunology, strengthening Hillsboro's role in Oregon's fast‑growing life sciences and advanced manufacturing economy.
   

3. Hillsboro adds new downtown mural, opens applications for 2027 projects (forestgrovenewstimes.com) — Downtown Hillsboro just gained a new mural, "Twilight in Hillsboro," brightening the south wall of Active Chiropractic & Rehabilitation on Northeast Second Avenue with local hills, wildflowers, orchards and vineyards. The city is now accepting applications through Jan. 17 for its 2027 Mural Idea Project, offering up to $20,000 to support new public art at locations across Hillsboro.
   

4. Neighbor warns of 'door kick challenge' reports in Portland metro: 'It's very dangerous' (newsbreak.com) — Law enforcement based in Hillsboro is warning families about the "door kick challenge," a TikTok prank where kids kick front doors and run, which has already caused at least one case of serious damage in Washington County. Deputies say frightened residents or pets could react unpredictably and urge Hillsboro-area parents to talk with kids and report incidents to nonemergency lines or 911 when appropriate.
   

5. Newmark Arranges $31M Sale of Advanced Manufacturing Campus in Hillsboro (connectcre.com) — A major advanced manufacturing campus in Hillsboro just changed hands in a $30.9 million deal, with tenants including Applied Materials and KLA remaining in place.
