• Statewide group seeks nominations to honor Washington County veterans (beavertonvalleytimes.com) — Organizers are seeking nominations now for six Washington County veterans to be honored at the Nov. 11 Veterans Day Celebration at Veterans Memorial Gateway in Hillsboro. Nominees must have ties to Washington County and can come from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, with selections based on leadership, service, and community impact.
• Caterpillar and Ultium Cells make $1B facility investments (manufacturingdive.com) — Genentech has begun a $750 million expansion of its Hillsboro campus, doubling the site's size and adding about 250 new high-tech manufacturing jobs focused on advanced medicines. Work is underway now, with operations expected to start in 2031 as part of a broader national investment push by Genentech and parent company Roche.
• High school football: Who won and who lost on the local gridiron Friday night (Oct. 2) (hillsboronewstimes.com) — Local high school football fans saw a full slate of Friday night action, including Wilsonville's 42-0 win over Hillsboro and close contests for several nearby schools. The roundup gives Hillsboro-area residents a quick look at how their teams and rivals fared across multiple classifications.
