City of Hillsboro facilities will remain closed to the public through April 28 in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community. This includes all City of Hillsboro office buildings, libraries, and recreation facilities.

The decision to extend the facilities closure is in alignment with Governor Kate Brown's executive order to reopen schools on Wednesday, April 29. The facilities closure will be reevaluated as City staff learn more and receive further guidance from Governor Kate Brown and the Oregon Health Authority.
This extraordinary action is being taken to balance the City’s prioritization of the health and well-being of City employees and the community at large during this current health emergency with City employees’ role as trusted public servants.
Essential City services that will continue uninterrupted include:
- Police services
- Fire & Rescue services
- Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
- Drinking water, utility services, and garbage collection
- Public Works and Parks Maintenance services
- Development services
- Capital projects
- Core support services
City employees are continuing to assist employers with online permitting and development services needed to advance construction projects and other business development initiatives, as part of a broader effort to help Hillsboro's local economy continue forward.
“We will work together, we will continue to serve our community, and we will get through these trying times,” said City Manager Robby Hammond said on March 17. “While some services will be curtailed, we will continue essential functions that our community needs.
“We are working to ensure phones will continue to be answered. We are turning additional focus to work that can be done online to serve our customers and keep the city and our community members going.”
The City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been activated and City employees have been advised to continue their work from home, whenever possible.
