Cooling Centers Open In Washington County For Hot Labor Day Weekend

With temperatures expected to reach and possibly exceed 100 degrees over Labor Day weekend, Washington County officials on Thursday reminded folks about the multiple cooling centers located throughout the county.

From Friday, Sept. 1, through Thursday, Sept. 7, the following locations will provide ways to escape the heat. But note, some of these location may be closed on Labor Day.

• Beaverton City Library will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Monday. The library will reopen from Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The library is located at 12375 S.W. Fifth St. TriMet route numbers: 52, 76, and 78
• Beaverton City Library at Murray Scholls will be open Friday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and closed Monday. Tuesday through Wednesday in will reopen from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The library is located at 11200 S.W. Murray Scholls Pl., Suite 102. • Boys & Girls Aid Safe Place for Youth will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Meals, snacks, and water are available on site. Hot weather supplies like hats, sunscreen and clothing are also available. Youth may participate in daily programming and recreational activities. Safe Place for Youth is located at 454 S.E. • Cornelius Public Library will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Monday. Tuesday through Thursday the library will reopen from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The library is located at 1355 N. Barlow St. TriMet route numbers: 57
• Forest Grove City Library will be open Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but closed Sunday and Monday. It will reopen Tuesday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is located at 2114 Pacific Ave. TriMet route numbers: 57
• Forest Grove Senior and Community Center will be open Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but closed Saturday through Monday. It will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center is located at 2037 Douglas St. TriMet route numbers: 57
• Hillsboro Brookwood Library will be open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed Monday. It will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Water is available on site. The library is located at 2850 Brookwood Pkwy. TriMet route numbers: 46 and 48
• Hillsboro Community Senior Center will be open Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but closed Saturday through Monday. It will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The senior center is located at 750 S.E. Eighth Ave. TriMet route numbers: 46, 47, 48, and 57
• Hillsboro Shute Park Library will be open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will be closed on Monday. It will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Water is available on site. The library is located at 775 S.E. 10th Ave. TriMet route numbers: 46, 47, 48 and 57
• Hillsboro Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC), lobby area will be open Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It will be closed Monday but will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Water is available on site. The SHARC is located at 953 S.E. Maple St. TriMet route numbers: 46, 47, 48 and 57
• North Plains Library will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday. From Tuesday through Wednesday it will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The library is located at 31334 N.W. Commercial St.
• Sherwood Public Library will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It will close Monday and reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The library is located at 22560 S.W. Pine St. TriMet route numbers: 93 and 94
• Sherwood Regional Family YMCA will be open Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Tuesday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Water is available on site. The YMCA is located at 23000 S.W. Pacific Hwy.
• Tigard Public Library will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. It will close Monday. It will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The library is located at 13500 S.W. Hall Blvd.
• Tualatin Public Library will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. (lobby and community room only), and Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Water, family-friendly activities, and Wi-Fi will be available. The library is located at 18878 S.W. Martinazzi Ave. TriMet route numbers: 76, 96 and 97 plus WES
• Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, Athletic Center will be open Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The facility will be closed Monday. It will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Vending machines and water are available on site. The Athletic Center is located at 15707 S.W. Walker Rd. • Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, Cedar Hills Recreation Center will be open Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will close Monday and reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Vending machines and water are available on site. • Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center will be open Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and then close on Monday. It will reopen Tuesday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Vending machines and water are available on site. The Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center is located at 9985 S.W. 125th. • Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, Garden Home Recreation Center will be open Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Tuesday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Vending machines and water are available on site. • Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, Elsie Stuhr Center will be open Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and then close on both Sunday and Monday. It will reopen Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Water is available on site. The Elsie Stuhr Center is located at 5550 S.W. • Wilsonville Community Center will be open Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but close Saturday through Monday. From Tuesday through Thursday it will reopen from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The community center is located at 7965 S.W. Wilsonville Rd.
• Wilsonville Public Library will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. It will be closed on Monday. From Tuesday through Thursday it will open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Water is available on site. The library is located at 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Rd.
