Escaped Sex Offender Caught, Police Say
Dustin Westling was found Friday evening in Lebanon, according to sheriff's officials. He escaped his GPS monitoring device Thursday.
LEBANON, OR — Escaped sex offender Dustin Westling was caught Friday outside Lebanon in Linn County, according to Washington County Sheriff's officials. Westling reportedly absconded from court-ordered community supervision Thursday after removing his GPS monitoring bracelet.
Westling, 30, was found by a Linn County Sheriff's deputy around 9:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at the crossing of River Drive and Mountain River Drive, police said. Westling will be returned to Washington County Community Corrections Parole/Probation Division, police said.
Westling was on post-prison supervision for identify theft and escape, police said. His previous record includes charges of attempted sex abuse, sodomy, and rape, as well as failure to register as a sex offender.
