Search Suspended for Missing Portland State Student

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says they have reason to believe Emily Hooper left of her own volition.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office has suspended its search for a missing Portland State University student. Emily Hooper has not been seen since she left for class last Thursday night.

On Tuesday, the sheriff's office announced they have reason to believe that Hooper "has gone missing of her own volition."

They say that, as an adult, she has the right to not contact police or her family until she wants to.

Hopper is 25-years-old and lives in Aloha. Her family told deputies that she had gone to class Thursday night and they thought she went to her boyfriend's house after that.

They did not become concerned until the boyfriend called them on Friday looking for her. He had not heard from her either. Emily's parents then reached out to her boss who said she had not shown for work on Friday morning, which is very unusual for her.

Emily is 5'7" tall and about 135 lbs. She has short, shaggy-brown hair, light-pale skin, a large lip ring in the center of her lip, a sparkly nose ring, stretched ears from wearing gauges, a tree-branch tattoo on her forearm and a cat tattoo on her calf. She may be carrying a black backpack and a light-blue purse. She may be wearing a light colored jacket, Doc Martin boots and blue jeans.
