High Times for Glencoe High's Newspaper

The Glencoe High School Crimson Times picks up 41 awards in the Oregon Student Media Olympics.

It was a big day for Glencoe High School's student newspaper, The Crimson Times.

The Times came away from the Oregon Student Media Olympics with 41 awards - there best of category, six superior, 11 excellent and 21 honorable mentions.

The three students winning best of awards were:

  • Maya Aguilar, for her human interest story on students in poverty;
  • Emily Smith, for her news package on large class sizes; and
  • Rebecca Dan, for the illustration she did to accompany a story on extracurricular activities.

It was Rebecca's second straight year with a best of award.

The awards, sponsored by the Northwest Scholastic Press, reviewed 520 entries.
