Hillsboro Community Foundation Distributes $175,000 In Covid-19 Relief Grants

$75,000 donation from the City of Hillsboro is assisting local nonprofits to help residents

The Hillsboro Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund has now distributed a total of $175,000 in grant funding to local nonprofit service providers meeting Hillsboro residents’ needs during the pandemic.

The City of Hillsboro’s recent $75,000 contribution adds to an earlier $100,000 donation from the Intel Foundation. Combined, the $175,000 in funding is helping eight community partners:

Food Assistance:

• Meals on Wheels
• Salvation Army
• St. Vincent de Paul
• Western Farm Workers

Health Care Services:

• Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center
  

Rent/Shelter Assistance:

• Bienestar
• Community Action
• Family Justice Center of Washington County

“The City of Hillsboro enthusiastically supports the COVID-19 Relief Fund because the Hillsboro Community Foundation is best suited to rapidly get funding help to local service providers,” said City Manager Robby Hammond. “Our local nonprofits are caring for our most vulnerable residents, and they need additional help — right now.”

The COVID-19 Relief Fund deploys 100% of every dollar donated to support groups providing assistance for Hillsboro residents. Additional grants will be announced soon, and the Hillsboro Community Foundation is continuing to raise money in order to distribute more funding.

“This is a time for us to come together to help those in great need in Hillsboro,” said Deanna Palm, Hillsboro Community Foundation President. “We are grateful to the Intel Foundation and the City of Hillsboro for their leadership and support, and to all who have made contributions. It is our shared hope that this generosity will motivate others to contribute. You can make a difference. Donations of $100, $1,000, or more are greatly appreciated. Yet, this grassroots effort still needs donations of $50, $20, $10 and $5 to make a real difference in meeting basic needs.”
