Hillsboro Family Okay After Sprinklers Snuff Laptop Fire

A Hillsboro family escaped injury when a working sprinkler system and a working smoke alarm snuffed out a laptop fire,

Hillsboro firefighters responded to the Quatama Crossing apartment complex at 730 NW Autumn Creek Way at 3:45 Monday to a report of an apartment fire.

They arrived to find the sprinklers had extinguished a laptop fire.

The laptop, left to charge, had overheated and ignited a mattress,

The apartment's smoke alarm altered the family and they escaped unharmed.

"They did all the right things in response to this situation," said Fire Investigator Kylie Kelly. "They quickly evacuated their apartment and notified others of the fire."
