Hillsboro Fire Sends Residents Scrambling from their Homes

No injuries reported but some residents had to scramble down ladders to escape.

A fire at the Aloha Park Apartments on the 800 block of SW 185th Avenue Sunday afternoon sent residents scrambling.

There were no reported injuries though officials said some residents used ladders to escape.

When firefighters arrived, they found several bushes on fire and flames climbing up the siding of the building.

Directly above, 38-year old David Jones, his fiancee and her two boys escaped from their 2nd floor apartment using an escape ladder. The boys, ages seven and five were able to scramble down the ladder.

Seven people were checked for smoke inhalation but refused further medical attention.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes extinguish the fire.

The Red Cross provided assistance to four adults and four children displaced as a result of the fire.
