The newly launched Food 2 You food pantry delivery program proved so popular that all available food was spoken for within the opening hour of each of its first two days. All told, more than 100 families were served by the Food 2 You program in its first week of operation.
The demand has inspired organizers to remind community members that the program is intended to serve those who are medically fragile, or older individuals who are unable to leave their homes due to the current crisis.

“This program is for those who need it most,” said City of Hillsboro Community Services Manager Tami Cockeram. “We understand the need is great across the community, and we are prioritizing those who have no other option in how they access food right now because of COVID-19. We are asking those who can go out on their own to get food to allow others who cannot to use this service first.”
Food 2 You is a partnership by the City of Hillsboro with St. Vincent de Paul and The Salvation Army of Hillsboro, in which City employees take phone orders, assemble food boxes, and deliver the food from the food pantries to community members who find it difficult or dangerous to their health to travel to the pantries or grocery stores.
As demand is high, phone lines will close whenever the order limits for the day have been met. Community members are asked to call back the following day or week. Messages will not be returned.
Requests are accepted by phone at 503-681-5090 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only, starting at noon. Orders are filled and delivered the following day (Wednesdays and Thursdays).
