Hillsboro Motor Home Destroyed by Fire

A man who had spent the evening getting his motor home ready to move to another location was driving away when he turned around and saw the vehicle on fire.

Jess Watts of Hillsboro didn't have a phone but able to flag someone down who then called 911.

As the person was making the call, Watts tried to get into the motor home to try to put out the fire but the smoke and heat made it impossible.

Twenty-three firefighters from Hillsboro and Cornelius needed about 15 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Investigators have not been able to determine the cause of the fire.
