Hillsboro Police Bust Man They Say Stole Street Sweeper

Early Sunday morning, Hillsboro Police chased a man they stole a street sweeper. The chase went from 30 mp.h. to 65 m.p.h..

Hillsboro Police say they arrested a man who stole a street sweeper early Sunday morning and led officers on a chase that ranged in speed from 30 mph to 65 mph. Tyler Haguewood, 33, is charged with reckless driving, attempting to elude, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Haguewood is also charged with violating the terms of his parole.

It started just before 4 Sunday morning. Officers responded to the report of a theft of a street sweeper from the parking lot of the Winco on Southwest Oak.

The operator was clearing the lot and stepped out of his vehicle to use a handheld leaf blower. He left the vehicle running.

Police say that Haguewood jumped in and drove off.

He was spotted around 1st Avenue and Walnut. It was traveling south. Officers activated their overhead emergency lights. The street-sweeper failed to yield.

The vehicle finally came to a stopped after Spike Strips were deployed in the area of Scholl's Ferry and Rainbow Lane by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The Driver, Haguewood was place into custody with out incident.
