Hillsboro Teen Going to National Spelling Bee
After a second-place finish last year, Vipanchi Mungara takes the title and wins a trip to the finals

And by knowing that, Vipanchi Mungara, a seventh-grader at Carden Cascade Academy in Hillsboro took home the title in this year's Portland Tribbune/Comcast Regional Spelling Be.

As result, Mungara gets a free trip the Scripps National Spelling Be in May.
She beat out more than 50 students from Washington, Multnomah, and Clackamas Counties.

She told The Portland Tribune that her interest in spelling comes from a personal place.
"I think part of it is I have such a hard name to spell," she told the paper.
For now, she just one word to worry about:
W-I-N-N-E-R.
