Hillsboro Wants Everyone's Life to be a Little Easier
And changing some addresses is part of that plan

Believe it or not the City of Hillsboro is not looking to make things difficult for people.
They want things to be simpler.
So, they are working to make sure that addresses in the city make sense.

Why is this even an issue?
Because over time, Hillsboro has annexed much of what used to be the town of Orenco - named for the Oregon Nursery Company - which was part of Washington County.

As a result, some places had Hillsboro addresses, others had Washington County addresses.
It has reached the point where roughly 20 percent of the homes and businesses in Hillsboro have Washington County addresses.
Last month, the City Council passed a resolution putting into motion a plan to consolidate things.
They have set up a website to guide people through the process.
The city says the change is needed because the "situation creates confusion for residents and for emergency and non-emergency service providers, as well as making it inconvenient for visitors from outside the neighborhood to locate an address."
A public hearing is scheduled for May.
