Intel Worker Killed In Industrial Accident, Police Say
Jay Elwell died while performing routine maintenance on a vertical storage carousel, police said. Elwell worked for Raymond Handling.

HILLSBORO, OR — An industrial accident at Intel's Ronler Acres Campus in Hillsboro left one man dead Wednesday, according to Hillsboro police officials. Jay Elwell, 50, died shortly before 2:30 p.m. July 12 while performing routine maintenance on a vertical storage carousel, police spokesman Lt. Henry Reimann said, noting the accident does not appear to be criminal. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has assumed control of the investigation, Reimann said.
Elwell worked for Raymond Handling Concepts Corporation, a sub-contracting agency that sells and services Raymond Forklifts and offers materials handling services "to companies engaged in warehousing and distribution" in California, Nevada, Idaho, Washington, Montana, Alaska, and Oregon, according to its website.
On Thursday, Intel spokeswoman Courtney Martin told Patch the company is "deeply saddened by the tragedy" and that Intel officials are working with local authorities through the investigation, but that no additional information will be released at this time.
