Man With History Of Violence Arrested For Assault In Hillsboro

Brian Autele's most recent assault charge is his fifth in Washington County since 1992, according to court documents.

HILLSBORO, OR — Washington County Sheriff's deputies on Sunday arrested a man with a long history of violence, which includes four assault convictions in Washington County since 1992, for allegedly assaulting another man in Hillsboro.

Brian Mulivai Autele, 43 — whose last known address was in St. Helens, according to court documents — was lodged at the Washington County Jail on a second degree assault charge. His bail is set at $25,000.

According to deputies, Jacob Gloria, 31, of Hillsboro, is in serious condition at an area hospital following the alleged altercation with Autele early Aug. 27.

Shortly before 4:30 a.m. at a party in the 5600-block of Southwest Rood Bridge Road, Autele and Gloria got into a fight, police said. The circumstances leading up to the fight are, at this time, unknown.

According to WCSO spokeswoman Dep. Shannon Wilde, Gloria suffered severe face and head injuries, leading to Autele's second degree assault charge — a Measure 11 crime that will ultimately go to grand jury.

Autele's history of violence will likely be considered during the investigation, Wilde explained, noting also that Autele's physical hand-to-hand combat skills will be a considerable factor when final charges are issued.
