MAX Back on Track to Resume Normal Service

Two-week improvement was successful, agency says.

After two weeks the disruptions should be over.

That's the word from TriMet about their two week plan to improve service on MAX lines.

The 1st Avenue Max Improvement project caused delays and crowded trains for two weeks.

The project involved new switches and rail, improved track bed, and repaired surfaces for what TriMet says will provide a "quieter and more reliable ride along 1st Avenue."

The agency did a test ride on the new track Friday.

"TriMet thanks riders for their patience and understanding," the agency said in a statement.

The improvement project was one of the largest rail replacement projects they have ever undertaken. The area that was replaced was part of the original MAX alignment that opened on September 5, 1986.
