Some of us are battling the disease directly, or have loved ones who are. We’ve lost access to our libraries, playgrounds, and schools. We’re experiencing financial hardship.
We’ve lost in-person contact with friends, family, and neighbors.

Still, we are hopeful. We are optimistic. We believe in our people. We have real-life heroes among us.
Our healthcare workers are battling for us. Nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, and other caregivers are giving all of us a fighting chance at great risk to their own health.
Our first responders never stop working to keep us safe. Hillsboro police officers, firefighters, and paramedics continue to serve and protect us 24 hours each day.
Our educators continue to help children stay engaged and learn from home. They are providing meals at school sites and by bus. The Hillsboro School District has donated thousands of protective masks to hospitals and first responders.
Our businesses are helping us meet our essential needs and keep our economy going. Farm workers, grocery store employees, and delivery drivers are all helping to get food from the fields to the shelves — and then to front doors. Businesses, large and small, are donating protective equipment and contributing cash to help where it’s needed most.
Our volunteers are caring for our most vulnerable neighbors with food, medicine, and shelter. So many people are stepping up right now and sacrificing to help others.
COVID-19 has caused hardship, yet it is proving our community is resilient and strong. To the heroes among us: Thank you. You have our continued support and gratitude.
