New Year New City Council for Hillsboro

A new mayor leads the way.

With the new year, Hillsboro has a new mayor and new member on the city council. They were sworn in at the first meeting of the year on January 3.

Mayor Steve Callaway was elected in November to take over for Jerry Willey who was forced out by term limits.

Councilor Anthony Martin is also new to the council. He won the spot previously held by Olga Acuna who was also forced out by term limits.

Fred Nachtigal and Rick Van Beveren were each sworn in for a second time.

Meanwhile, Darrel Lumaco was selected by the council to be City Council President.

Mayor Callaway - who had been city council president - created a vacancy on the council when he was elected as mayor.

The council is currently accepting applications to fill that spot.
