Quick-Thinking Job Coach Saves Life of Infant
Nathaniel Davis is honored for his actions.

Nathaniel Davis was just finishing an appointment in Hillsboro's Brookwood Library when he heard a mother shout into her cell phone.
"My baby is dying," she shouted.
Davis ran to her. There were two other women with her. The panic was palpable.

He placed the girl on the trunk of the car and went to work, administering compressions and rescue breaths.
Engine 3 from Hillsboro Fire Department arrived. They took over and rushed the girl to the hospital.
Library employees later told fire officials that it was Davis who had saved the girl's life.
This week, the HIllsboro City Council honored Davis.
"We are fortunate to have community members like Nathaniel Davis who not only are willing to help during a life-or-death emergency, but who prepare themselves for that possibility by learning how to perform CPR," said Division Chief Scott Magers of the Hillsboro Fire Department.
"If anyone hears Mr. Davis' story and is inspired to learn CPR, we can help direct you to a training class."
Davis couldn't agree more about the importance of learning CPR.
"I encourage all parents to become CPR trained," said Davis. "I am glad that I was able to recall the appropriate steps for CPR and respond appropriately. I am so glad that I was in the right place at the right time, and that this little girl was okay."
The Hillsboro Fire Department encourages everyone to learn CPR. Early intervention by persons trained to perform CPR can greatly increase the chances for survival for someone suffering a cardiac event.
