Sheriff Department Arrests Second Suspect in Package Nabbing Trap

'Bait package' program uses tracking device to catch porch package burglars.

Washington County police have made a second arrest as part of their "bait package" program. On Jan. 1, a package was stolen off the porch of a home in the Aloha area, according to a news release. The package was equipped with a tracking device that was activated when the suspect disturbed the package. Within about three minutes, Sheriff's Deputies were able to electronically track the package to Jean Des Camps, 19, from Portland.

Des Camps was found walking a few blocks from the package theft location. Jean Michael Des Camps was arrested for second degree theft and lodged in the Washington County Jail held on $2500 bail.

The Sheriff's Office "bait package" program is still in effect with packages placed throughout Washington County.
