Transit Alert: TriMet Says Make Other Plans for May

TriMet wants you to know that May is not going to be fun.

So much so that they are even telling people who normally buy monthly passes that they might want to make other plans.

"Asignificant MAX improvement project will disrupt MAX service for two weeks in May," they said in a statement. "Trains will come less frequently and space on board will be severely limited."

The work will go on from May 8 through May 21 and will result in a reduction of space by about 30 percent on alines during the day.

It will be worse on the westside where the reduction will be about 50 percent during the morning and afternoon commutes.

"During the two-week project, consider altering trips to avoid main commuting hours. If possible, work from home," TriMet said.

"Go by TriMet bus or the Portland Streetcar. Bike the entire way. Carpool. Or use other transportation options for the two weeks."

The agency has made a video they hope will be helpful getting through this period.
