County report shows they have reduced the greenhouse gas emissions from county operations.
Washington County is working hard to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that can be traced to county operations.
And - a report just out - shows they are doing just that.
The report stares that since 2008, the county has reduced GHG emissions by seven percent from their operations - that includes everything from libraries to public safety services to road maintenance.

The county says that much of the reduction can be tied to their sustainability program, which was adopted in 2009.
"Washington County has worked closely with the Energy Trust of Oregon to plan and implement projects which would give us a good return on our investment," said County Sustainablity Coordinator Robin Straughan.
"In fact, since 2004, the county has implemented dozens of energy conservation projects resulting in an estimated $5.4 million in net cost savings."
