Families earning under 80% of area median income can apply, but must complete financial education and mortgage qualification, with move-in timelines stretching 12–24 months and full buildout expected by 2030. 
• Deschutes County Hosts Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events (mycentraloregon.com) — La Pine residents can safely dispose of household hazardous waste for free at a one-day collection event on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 51340 U.S. Highway 97. Additional October events in Sisters and Redmond, plus ongoing drop-off at Bend’s Knott Landfill, give South County households several options to clear out dangerous products responsibly.
