At 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress at a cabin on East Road 12 in Rhododendron. Surveillance video (linked above) shows a man arriving at the cabin in a long tan coat, looking in the cabin's windows after removing the coat, and leaving the scene carrying stolen tools including a powered saw.

The suspect also stole cameras that recorded his crime.

A Chevy Silverado pickup (pictured) with a bed full of items was spotted about a quarter-mile from the crime scene, leaving the area. The Silverado has a large dent on the driver’s side rear quarter panel and bumper sticker on the tailgate. The driver was wearing a two-toned, short-sleeved shirt matching the shirt worn by the suspect. Authorities believe he is connected to the crime. Photos of the suspect driver in the Silverado are attached. 

The suspect is described as follows:

  • White male adult in his 30s or 40s
  • Medium to heavy build
  • Wearing grey "baseball-style" short-sleeved shirt with dark sleeves, dark jeans, work boots, a dark-colored baseball cap, a dark-colored mask, and grey work gloves with a red strap at the wrist
