Clackamas County Commissioners will host a special Town Hall on suicide prevention awareness and mental health resources on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The first part of this Town Hall will feature several presentations from professional mental health experts at the county. These presentations include:

  • Mental Health Awareness: Why it is okay to be having a hard time, and what #ClackCo/other support and resources are available.
  • Suicide Prevention Awareness: How to “Ask the Question”: Are you worried about a loved one and need help? This presentation relays what you can do.
  • Peer Support: Engaging in mental health or addiction recovery is sometimes easier when you have an ally that has been through it. #ClackCo’s peer support programs can provide that ally. This section answers: “What is peer support? Does it work and how do I access it?”

Prior to and during the session, attendees or interested parties will have the opportunity to email their comments or questions to ClackCoNews@clackamas.us for commissioners and the expert panel. Live calls over Zoom will not be taken, but the 24/7 Crisis Line is always available for those in need at 503-655-8585.

When emailing ClackCoNews@clackamas.us, please put “Mental Health Town Hall” in the subject line, and provide a name and area (if comfortable). Due to time constraints, comments will be limited, so please try to be succinct with your comments/questions.
