Lake Oswego Budget Committee Approves Grant Requests
Committee pencils in about $25,000 for community groups. Awards still have to be approved by the City Council.

Seven community organizations, six of which have not received funding in the past, have been chosen to receive grants by the Lake Oswego Citizens Budget Committee.
The grants are:
- Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band - $4,500 for a new contrabass clarinet;
- Clackamas Women's Services - $5,000 to help fund an emergency shelter and outreach services for women and children victims of domestic violence;
- Lake Oswego School District's Special Services Parent Advisory Committee - $1,500 for the creation of an expanded special needs program for middle school students;
- Lake Oswego Community Rowing - $5,000 to help purchase four sculling boats for the program's Learn to Row program;
- Oswego Heritage Council - $5,000 to fund a permanent exhibit, display, and community resource center;
- Tools for Troops - $1,000 to collect, refurbish, and distribute tools to veterans; and
- Lakewood Theater Company - $3,000 to help develop a young playwrights program.
The budget still has to be approved by the City Council in June.
