Lake Oswego Budget Priorities Include New Operations Center

From how to fund the new operations center, which is scheduled to open in the next year to how to pay for new bicycle pathways, Lake Oswego's Citizens's Budget Committee is working on a formal proposal for next year's budget.

Based on the priorities, the city manager's office will draft a formal proposal that will be presented at the Budget Committee's April 28 meeting.

The budget committee has the seven city council members along with seven non-elected citizens.

While the operations center is still being designed, how to pay for it is a top priority.

Most of the money will come from the city departments that make use of the center, with their contribution linked to how much they will use it.

Despite those contributions, there is still a funding gap and the committee voted to spread funding over the next two years.

The committee also voted to fund repairs for city hall, which officials can't be put off any longer.
