Lake Oswego Mayor's Race: Another Hat in the Ring as Gustafson Declares

City Councilor becomes the third candidate to enter the race.

Lake Oswego is going to need a bigger hat rack.

City Councilor Jon Gustafson became the third candidate to toss his hat in the ring - announcing that he is running for mayor.

"We can do this!!!" he wrote on Facebook, making the announcement. "Together we can make this an even better place to live."

He included a laundry list of priorities that included "improving our system of paths, sidewalks and bike lanes. Protecting our natural and historic resources. Preserving neighborhood character and affordability. Building a municipal broadband network. Supporting our schools. Building a community pool. Funding the arts."

He joins in the race Mayor Kent Studebaker who is seeking reelection and Dave Berg who is the chairman of the Citizens Budget Committee.

Gustafson, who lives with his husband Michael and their ten-year-old daughter, owns a local remodeling company.

He graduated from Portland State and is also a licensed real estate broker.

More candidates could still enter the race. The filing deadline is August 30.
