Lake Oswego Police Closer to Getting New Headquarters

After learning to live in cramped quarters, the Lake Oswego Police Department is finally close to to getting a new home.

The Lake Oswego Police Department may finally be getting some new digs.

The city's redevelopment agency has negotiated a $1.5 million deal to buy property at A Avenue and Third Street.

The building would not only serve as the new headquarters for the police, it would house the city's 911 dispatch center.

It's not a done deal yet.

The two sides now have a 45-day due diligence period. If all goes well, once that period is over, they will have 20 days to close the deal.

The deal would give the city two parcels - one is a parking lot and the other is a building that currently houses a daycare for dogs, LexiDog. While LexiDog's lease does not expire for two years, the city will help them find a new home.

The police department has been making do with too little space for some time and finding a space for a new headquarters has been a priority for the city.
