Lake Oswego Police Issue Phone Scam Alert

The fraudulent caller identifies himself as a Lake Oswego police officer and asks that scam victims pay for outstanding fines or warrants.

LAKE OSWEGO, OR – Lake Oswego police officials asked residents Tuesday to be aware of a likely phone scam sweeping the area.

Several people have reportedly received phone calls from a man who identifies himself as “Sergeant Jason Cook” of the Lake Oswego Police Department. According to police, the caller wants to discuss outstanding fines or warrants the people he’s calling may have.

The caller appears to know a great deal about the people he’s targeted, police said, and seems to want to create fear over legal trouble that a quick payment could resolve.
