Lake Oswego Schools: Community Supports Bond Measure

More than 60 percent of those surveyed support a bond measure. The question is how big it should be.

The majority of Lake Oswego residents contacted in a survey for the school district indicated they would support a bond measure to help the schools.

That's what school board members were told at their meeting Monday night.

The survey of 380 people was conducted by an outside firm hired by the district.

Thirty-five percent said they would a $250 million bond, 28 percent would support a $180 million bond, four percent said they would be fine with either, 10 percent said they were not sure, three percent had other ideas and 20 percent wanted neither bond.

The size of the bond will determine what projects are included.

The larger bond would result in the replacement of two elementary schools and one junior high school.

The board has still not decided whether to place the bond issue on the ballot in November or the following May.
