Lake Oswego's New Water Supply Not Just a Pipe Dream

Final piece of pipe is connected as the Lake-Oswego-Tigard Partnership takes a major step

It was the final piece of a 10.5 mile pipeline that will eventually deliver 38 million gallons each day from the Willamette River to Lake Oswego and Tigard.

The project has been underway for nearly a decade and will result in the first water system in the state built under new design standards that should survive the large earthquake expected to strike the area sooner rather than later.

There's still more work to do.

Once the pipe section is tested, workers will have to disinfect it so it can be used for transporting the treated water.

The partnership says that by early April the pipeline, from the treatment plant in West Linn to Lake Oswego's Waluga Reservoir and Tigard's Bonita Pump Station, will be operational.
