Louisiana Flooding: Retired Lake Oswego Firefighter Among Area Volunteers Helping
The Red Cross Cascades Region sent more than one dozen volunteers to help out.
The American Red Cross Cascades Region, which covers Oregon and Southwest Washington, has sent 17 volunteers to Louisiana to help with the flooding.
They are from cities all over the area including Lake Oswego, Portland, Medford, Silverton, Forence, and Vancouver.
One of them - Scott Fine, a retired Lake Oswego firefighter - had only recently returned from volunteering in West Virginia, which had also been hit by flooding.

The volunteers are assisting affected communities by managing shelters, providing emergency financial assistance, health and mental health services, transportation services, and coordinating with local government entities to help deliver assistance.
The volunteers are expected to stay in Louisiana for various lengths of time from several days to several weeks.
