Investigators also removed the bodies of 18 dead cats.
Ten neglected cats and 18 dead ones were removed from a home in Lake Oswego by a rescue team from the Oregon Humane Society. It was part of an investigation into someone for animal neglect.
The investigation started last week when the Oregon Humane Society received information from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office about suspected animal abuse.

Members of the rescue team had to wear protective suits and respirators as they worked their way through mounds of trash, debris, and waste.
The society says that many of the cats seized from the home on SW Jean Road were emaciated, dehydrated, and flea-infested.

Officials say the home was so cluttered with debris, it was hard for members of the rescue team to move around.
The cats will remain in protective custody of the humane society who will nurse them back to health. While the case works through the justice system, the cats will not be available to adoption.
