Radon Testing Shows Slight Positive at Lake Grove Elementary
Six sites at the school were tested. One came back high enough to warrant further testing.

In preparation for new state requirements about environmental testing, the Lake Oswego School District recently completed testing at Lake Grove Elementary School.
Of the six sites the district tested, only one - classroom 3 - came back at a level high enough to warrant further testing.
The Environmental Protection Agency says that levels of 4 picocuries per liter, there should be long-term follow-up for nine months during the school year following the initial testing.

Indoor radon levels depend on a number of variables and can fluctuate significantly from day to day. Based on this fact, the EPA recommends performing follow-up, long term testing where results were at or above 4.0 pCi/L. The district is following EPA recommendations and will conduct follow-up long term tests at Lake Grove beginning this fall.
