Stranger Danger Strikes Lake Oswego School District

A man in a van tried to stop and talk to a student on her way to the bus stop.

Lake Oswego, OR -- Last Thursday, June 2, parents of children in the Lake Oswego School District were informed by the school system that there had been an incident of "stranger danger" in the area that morning.

A white man in a minivan with no license plates stopped and tried to speak with a student as she was walking to a bus stop in the Westlake area.

She didn't respond, and made it to her bus stop safely.

"Please take this opportunity to remind your students of good 'stranger danger' practices, including walking with friends when possible, not talking to strangers, being aware of their surroundings, and immediately reporting unusual or threatening incidents to a trusted adult," Nancy Duin, Director of Communications for the Lake Oswego Country School District, wrote to parents at the time.

She also shared that the Lake Oswego Police Department had been informed and would be providing extra patrols in the area the following morning.
