• DEQ issues six enforcement actions in August for environmental violations (oregon.gov) — An Ontario-based company, Seubert Excavators Inc., was fined $47,454 by Oregon DEQ for stormwater violations, part of six enforcement actions statewide totaling $184,387. Local readers should know that the business can appeal or fund an environmental project instead, and that DEQ continues to monitor Ontario operations to protect air, land and water quality.
• Prospectors Hold Four Rivers Scoreless in Second Draw of Season (koin.com) — A recent high school soccer match in Ontario ended in a 0-0 draw between Grant Union and Four Rivers, with strong defense but little offense on either side. The shutout was helped by the return of injured players Artemis McKnab and Aubri Judd, and the teams now look ahead to their next matchup against Nyssa on October 3.
